Your face is your visible signature and the most identifiable feature you have. Put your best face forward with these ten tips for a perfect complexion.
Water and Diet
Water is your skin’s best friend. Drink plenty of water every day to keep your skin hydrated and dewy looking. Eat a diet rich in antioxidants and omega-3s for natural radiance.
Steaming
You don’t need a fancy facial steamer device to nourish your skin with moisture. Boil some water and pour it into a plugged sink. Add a few drops of lavender oil, bend over the sink and throw a towel over your head to trap the steam. Breathe and relax.
Cleansing
With pores freshly opened by the steaming process, cleanse your face using a product designed for your skin type. Gently massage the product in circles, paying close attention to tiny crevices where bacteria love to multiply. Rinse with tepid water, and then cool water.
Exfoliating
A smooth complexion begins when old, dead skin cells are removed to reveal young, fresh skin cells. Don’t use a rough exfoliant designed for the body, but a gentle moisturizing exfoliant designed specifically for facial use. You can also try using face scrubs. Hemp scrubs are perfect and use ingredients like organic shea butter, organic cocoa butter, organic coconut oil, nourishing hemp, Turbinado sugar, plus hydrates and exfoliates to reveal healthier looking skin, naturally.

Toning
Tighten up those pores with a gentle toner. Many astringents are too harsh for the job, and can actually stimulate oil glands to overproduce, which causes blemishes to form. Read the labels and stay away from anything with alcohol in it.
Moisturizing
Use moisturizer daily; more often in dry conditions. Pick one with an SPF factor of 15 that is free of pore-clogging ingredients like lanolin (which is present in numerous cosmetic ingredients under different names). One of my favorite types of moisturizer is hemp moisturizers. They are ultra moisturizing and provide deep skin hydration using pure hemp oil and natural botanicals.
Mask
Twice a week, treat your skin to extra nourishment with a facial mask. There are some great products out there with clays that pull toxins from your skin, or with vitamin C to add luster to your complexion. Leave on for the time directed, then rinse with tepid and then cool water.
Facial
Once or twice a month, enjoy a professional facial. Not only will it do wonders for revitalizing your complexion, relaxing in a salon can do wonders for your overall being. Get a fresh coat of nail polish while you’re there for an extra pick-me-up.
Sun Protection
In addition to a daily moisturizer with sunscreen in it, use lip balm with an SPF of 15 or higher, too. Many cosmetics are also now manufactured with sunscreen in their formulas. The more protection you get from the sun’s damaging rays, the better condition your skin will be in.
Fresh Make Up
Make up that’s been rolling around in your cosmetics drawer for months on end are likely riddled with all kinds of bacteria. Instead of purchasing large containers of products you seldom use, buy tiny amounts of extraordinarily good cosmetics. Applying pearly highlighters beneath a sheer, lightly tinted moisturizer creates a luminescent glow that’s far more naturally appealing than layers of thick, caked on foundation.
Following these tips regularly will bring you closer to that flawless look you crave.
