Last winter my son took a class through 4-H on model rockets. He had a blast and it was such a joy to see him learn something so educational yet fun. Model rockets are both entertaining and educational for our kids. They have been around for decades!
Did you know that today an estimated 9.6 million model rockets are launched every year by 2 million enthusiasts of all ages – roughly one-third of them girls? It ignites a lifelong interest in everything from science, math, engineering and technology to space travel.
Model rockets are a great way to scrape kids off the couch, away from those apps and outdoors having fun. Model rocketry is a great activity for kids 10 and up, with adult supervision.
Estes Rockets sent us three different rockets to try: Mini Blaster, Whirlwind and Sonic Boom!
The rockets were easy enough for my 11 year old son to put together.
Super simple instructions and we were ready for take-off! Be sure if you are having trouble with them blasting off that you check all your connections. We had one that wasn’t connected very good and wouldn’t work but once we checked our connections we noticed one that wasn’t tightened good enough. Once we tightened the connections it blasted high in the air!
5-4-3-2-1… blast off!
Pa even joined in on the fun!
We had so much fun blasting off these rockets! I think we are ready for a bigger model! My son loved all three rockets. He said he couldn’t choose a favorite because they were all so much fun.
Estes Rockets are so great I can’t choose just one favorite. – the bandit
From ready-to-fly models that come fully assembled to kits that can be put together in roughly an hour, model rockets come in all sizes, colors and altitude capabilities from 100 to several thousand feet. At Estes Rockets prices start at under $10, and every rocket is reusable with a new engine, igniter and igniter plug.
