Kansas City Mexican Restaurant Chuy’s Review
A new Kansas City Mexican Restaurant, Chuy’s, has opened its doors on the Plaza. We were able to visit the restaurant on Sunday afternoon to try the delicious Tex-Mex style food. My sister and her boyfriend joined my son and I to see if the food and atmosphere were what we were looking to find. We weren’t sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised!
First of all, parking on the Plaza in Kansas City can be hard. You either have to park in a parking garage and walk several blocks or try to get a spot along the street. Chuy’s had their own parking and was right across the street from a parking garage, at J C Nichols Parkway and W 46th Terrace, so we were able to get to the restaurant quickly. We were so glad because it was so cold the day we visited!
We were quickly seated and our server was to our table right away. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I wish I could remember her name to give her credit! She brought us chips, salsa and asked if we would like queso and guacamole. Of course we did! The guacamole was so fresh and delicious! The chips were very fresh and very good. We really enjoyed snacking on them while we waited on our food to arrive.
We had a hard time deciding on what to get. Chuy’s serves up fresh, made-from-scratch Tex-Mex, featuring hand-rolled tortillas, salsa fresca made every hour, so we knew we were in for a treat. I chose the steak burrito while my sister chose the shrimp baja tacos. I almost got those but I thought I’d try something different. Her boyfriend got the chicken fajitas and my son opted for the kids chicken strips and fries. No Mexican food for him!
Our food was served very quickly. Apparently Chuy’s has the famous “Big As Yo’ Face” burritos. Well, that is no joke! My burrito was so big I could only eat half of it and it was delicious! Everything was delicious and so fresh tasting. I also tried my sister’s baja tacos she ordered. I loved them! I had never tried shrimp tacos and now I am hooked! Delicious!
If you are in Kansas City and looking for some delicious Chile Rellenos, enormous burritos, homemade salsa, and great drinks, including the Texas Martini. Chuy’s is a great place to get the most delicious, healthiest Mexican food. It’s a fun atmosphere and great for the whole family! We highly suggest it!

I sure wish we had such a wonderful Mexican restaurant in out town. Actually, the closest one is about 45 miles away. I’ve never heard a review about the one in our area as positive as the one in yours.
