Homemade Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet Potato Fries

The perfect way to enjoy my favorite ice cream is scooped into a bowl served with sweet potato fries as dippers.. It is the perfect summer treat my family enjoys.

Besides ice cream, these homemade crispy oven sweet potato fries are perfect paired with your favorite burger. You can easily adjust the spices to make them less sweet.

Crispy Oven Sweet Potato Fries

Ingredients:

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled
  • Olive oil or coconut oil
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

EDY’S® Ice Cream

If you prefer your sweet potato fries not as sweet, omit the cinnamon for curry powder and add 1 tsp garlic powder.

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Spray baking sheet with cooking spray.

Cut the sweet potatoes into fry shapes. You can make these as thick or thin as you prefer. I didn’t realize sweet potatoes are so hard to cut raw. I nearly sliced my index finger off! So, be careful! My knife was a bit dull and if I’d taken the time to sharpen it my results would have been much better.

Soak the fries in water for 30-45 minutes. You can even soak them overnight if you prefer. The water removes excess potato starch which helps fries to not stick together and makes them crispier.

Drain and pat the fries dry.

Add fries to a large bowl and coat with olive or coconut oil.

Add spices and mix well.

Lay the fries out single layer on a the baking sheet. I love to use my T-Fal baking sheet I used to make my delicious oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

Bake 20-30 minutes. Be sure to turn your fries halfway through. If you prefer crispier fries you can cook longer or broil for the last few minutes.

Grab two spoons and dip your sweet potato fries. The perfect way to celebrate togetherness!

These are also so delicious with our fried chicken sliders. They are the perfect side dish to any summer bbq or party. I’ll admit though, my favorite way to enjoy a sweet potato is baked, smothered in butter and brown sugar. Delicious!

I like the sound of the seasoned with curry and garlic, have never tried, so when weather cools off again, I may try these.

I think I saw these when you posted this on Facebook(?) and I forgot where the recipe was. I’m so glad to have found it! My sweet potato fries taste terrible – I knew nothing about soaking them, does that do something special?

Anyway, I love, love sweet potato fries, the sweeter the better. I can’t wait to try this one.

I absolutely love these. Unfortunately no one else in my family is big on them so I don’t make them. 🙁
