I participated in this sponsored album review program as a member of One2One
Network. I was provided the album to review but all opinions are my own.
I have been such a huge fan of Gwen Stefani’s since listening to No Doubt growing up. I’ve always loved all kinds of music from classic country to rock to pop to rap. No matter what mood I’m in I can always find a great song. I was so excited to download Gwen’s new album, This Is What The Truth Feels Like.
Since all the controversy around Gwen’s marriage and new love Blake Shelton, I was anxious to hear if this came out in her music. Of course, my favorite song from the album, “Used To Love You”, comes at no surprise. In my opinion, it is clear she is speaking of her ex-husband. If you watch the video to this song you can see the sadness and emotion she is going through.
I listened to the whole album and loved so many of the songs but couldn’t get past how much I love “Used To Love You”. Maybe it’s because I’ve already heard it so many times driving down the road. You know, a song you hear on the ready is always one you love the most on albums but this song is so special. I’m anxious to put many of the other songs on her new album on repeat like I have this one.
I’m also loving “Misery” from Gwen’s new album!

Gwen Stefani has been a singer and songwriter since childhood and has sold close to 30 million records as the front woman for the band No Doubt and as a multi platinum solo artist. Of course, this wouldn’t be complete without a throwback to one of my favorite No Doubt’s songs, “Just a Girl”.
No Doubt’s five genre blending albums have showcased Gwen’s adept songwriting and
poignant lyrics with number one hits including “Don’t Speak”, “Just A Girl”, “Hey Baby”,
and “Underneath It All”. After No Doubt’s double platinum retrospective singles collection The Singles 1992 – 2003, featuring the hit single “It’s My Life,” Gwen released two multi platinum selling solo albums. Love.Angel.Music.Baby was released in 2004 with the number one single “Hollaback Girl”, one of my personal favorites. It was also the first digital download to sell over one million copies in the United States. Doesn’t surprise me at all!
Gwen’s second multi-platinum solo record The Sweet Escape was released in 2006 and
featured the hit single of the same name. In 2009, Gwen returned to No Doubt for a 50 plus city North American tour, and in 2012, the band released their sixth album Push
and Shove which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart.
Gwen was careful and took her time to create her new album This Is What The Truth Looks Like, her most personal work to date. With intimate songs such as “Make Me Like You”, “Misery”, “Truth” and “Used To Love You” combined with the stellar tracks from
producers Mattman & Robin, Greg Kurstin, JR Rotem and Stargate, there is an
emotional through line to the album that highlights Gwen’s songwriting and impassioned themes of love and loss that are universally felt worldwide.
