During our recent travels through Tennessee we had the opportunity to stay at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville. First of all, this was the absolutely most gorgeous hotel inside and out! I’ll tell you all about it more in a bit. First, let me tell you about our way to the hotel…
The drive to Nashville was around ten hours for us. We drive to St. Louis and then through Illinois and Kentucky. On I-24 in Southern Illinois we had a tire blow out on our truck that we had just put new tires on. I mean these tires aren’t cheap coming in at around $300 per tire! We were not happy campers to say the least! The interstate was so busy that my husband finally just pulled off into the grass. The worst part about it is that the tires are pretty large and were not easy to find nearby. I called AAA and we got a tow but all four of us had to pack in to the tiny front of the tow truck with us sitting on one another’s laps. I’m sure that was not safe! I was not very happy about it but I sure wasn’t going to sit along the road or wait an hour for a cab to pick us up along the interstate. My point of telling you this is that it put us way behind and we were not able to enjoy the gorgeous hotel to the fullest that awaited us in Nashville.
The Gaylord Opryland Hotel was very easy to locate in the outer part of Northeastern Nashville. The exterior of the hotel was breathtaking! I loved the plants and shrubs they had planted as soon as you drove through the front entrance and throughout the property. My favorites were the sweet potato vine. They mixed beautiful colors together and it was so stunning! I tried to get a picture as we were driving in to the main entrance. The road was so busy so we couldn’t stop but it gives you an idea of the pretty plants.
Upon arrival I was directed to check-in at the celebrity office. I felt like an awful mess walking in there. After having the flat tire we were so exhausted and had been rained on when waiting on our tire to be put on. Needless to say, I looked a mess! I wish I had been able to change and make myself a little more presentable. The staff was very friendly and the concierge quickly directed me to the celebrity office. I had plans to have the Giveaway Bandit dress up and shoot a video as we walked in but he was pretty cranky and tired. Hopefully we can stay another time and shoot the video because I would love to show everything to you on our YouTube channel.
We parked in the hotel parking lot and carried our bags in but they did offer to take our bags to our room for free. The Bandit thought he was a big celebrity walking in there. He had his hat, sunglasses and boots on with his shorts. He really did think he was hot stuff! The hotel was huge! They really do have everything in one place. The hotel has a Cascades atrium and a Delta atrium. We walked through the Cascades atrium to get to our room. The atrium was gorgeous with a real-life “hotel-sized” river winding through the restaurants to each atrium. It was so gorgeous!
We were given two connecting rooms on the top floor. One room contained a bathroom and two queen-sized beds. The other room was a gorgeous suite with a living area, sofa bed, table, kitchen and large bathroom. The rooms overlooked the Delta atrium which was so beautiful. We could see the Delta Riverboat winding through the river full of hotel guests. We were given free tickets to ride on the Delta riverboat but sadly we missed the last ride by the time we arrived and had to check-out the next morning due to other engagements in Pigeon Forge. We were very sad to miss out on such a fun experience that we had been offered.
The Bandit shows you the kitchen in the picture below. He also wanted to “demonstrate” what it would look like if he was getting something out of the fridge… silly boy!
Below is a view of how our room (top floor, light on) looked from inside one of the atriums.
The beds were so comfortable! My husband and I did not want to crawl out of bed the next morning. I think I could have spent our whole vacation right there in that bed! I sleep like a log anyways but these were extra comfy. Sadly my hubby started coming down with a bad summer cold that night. I think it must have been partly from exhaustion. It seems like when we go anywhere we are always trying to get a million things done and we had been in the hay field until late and been busy at work so I know he was just worn out. I think the comfy bed helped though!
Below are pictures of the Cascade and Delta atriums. Throught the hotel and atriums they offer dining options, quality spa and fitness center services, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, top-notch entertainment, on-site shopping and endless activities.
We definitely give the resort a five star rating and plan to return soon. We plan to have a travel review series on Nashville only soon so we can explore more of the city. It looks like a wonderful place to stay and bring the family. We highly suggest it for your next family vacation and you should definitely stay at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel! It is so awesome!

This looks amazingly beautiful hotel. The atrium is remarkable.
Oh my goodness! How BEAUTIFUL!!! I am discussing a trip from NYC to Nashville with my boyfriend and pretty sure I will convince him to take me to Gaylord! 🙂
That is just gorgeous! I’m keeping a bucket list of places I want to visit, and I’ve now added the Gaylord Opryland Hotel to my list. Both of my sisters travel to Tennessee a couple times a year too. They mostly go to Pigeon Forge. I’ll have to show them this. Your son is so cute. Looks like he had a good time.
Wow! This is absolutely beautiful. Our family visits Nashville often and would love to stay here. I am going to check it out for our next visit.

Wow, those atriums are incredible. I don’t travel much, but if I did and had the opportunity to stay there, I would definitely try!

So sorry you had a couple of obstacles, but so glad you had such an amazing opportunity nonetheless!
