Don’t forget the pets on Christmas day! I always enjoy having gifts for all of our pets to enjoy whether it’s a toy or indulgence. I remember one year when I was a child I made fudge for my goat. Apparently it is very rich for goats and she got very sick. I had to call the vet and give her a shot! I’ll never remember that!
Here’s a fun gift for your doggy whether it’s given on Christmas morning or as a daily treat. Most dogs love peanut butter!
Easy Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits
Yields: 2 dozen
Supplies:
- Medium dog bone cookie cutter (try this R&M Dog Bone Cookie Cutter)
- 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup pumpkin purée
- 1/4 cup (4Tablespoons) peanut butter
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 Tablespoons water (more, if needed)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Add all of the ingredients into a large mixing bowl and mix well.
The dough will be coarse and a bit dry.
You can add another Tablespoon of water, if necessary, to make it more pliable to roll out.
Sprinkle a small amount of flour on your work space
and roll out the pumpkin dough until it’s about 1/2 inch thick.
Use your cookie dough cutter to cut out the dog bone shapes.
Place the cut-outs on the baking sheet. The biscuits will not expand so you can place them close to each other, if needed.
Bake for 18-20 minutes. Allow the pan to cool on a wire rack for 30 minutes.
Store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
These would be also great as a gift for any of your dog owning friends!

My daughter made these before for my dog and my dog loved them
Sadly, our dog River is allergic to peanut butter. Could you suggest a replacement ingredient for these cookies? I’d still like to make them for her
Samantha,
I am not certain but I did do a little searching for you and found this http://kolchakpuggle.com/2014/06/thats-nutty-5-dog-friendly-alternatives-peanut-butter.html. You could try almond butter possibly. I hope you can make them with something for sweet River. I’m sure she’d love them on Christmas morning 🙂
