While the most popular season for weddings is the height of summer, there’s a great deal to be said for pushing the celebrations forward into spring. The demand for venues, catering and entertainment will be that little bit lower – and so too will the prices. Plus, you’ll stand a much better chance of avoiding a clash with anyone else’s wedding.
If you find yourself invited to a wedding at this time of year, however, then you’ll need to attend to an entirely different set of wardrobe concerns. If you’re starved of inspiration, don’t worry; we’re about to provide some.
Ideas for Women
A Spring Suit
A pastel-coloured suit is difficult to beat at this time of year. Consider, orange, pink, green or cream. Try to avoid dark colours, as you may lose the classical wedding look. Combine the suit with a plain top and accessorise with heeled sandals.
Dresses
In springtime, flowers are in abundance – so look for something with floral patterns. Avoid short hemlines; go for something knee-length if the wedding is being held outdoors, in a grassy location.
Top and Skirt
Going for separates is a great way to set yourself apart from everything else, especially if you opt for contrast when it comes to textures and patterns. Pair a reserved white top with an outlandish sequinned skirt, or vice-versa.
Accessorise
The right jewellery will help to bring your outfit together, and help you feel comfortable in it, too. Consider a statement diamond necklace, paired with acrylic earrings. Make sure that you’re going to be able to wear everything outside of a wedding environment, too.
Ideas for Men
Lightweight Suits
Your options when it comes to suits will be fairly restricted. Look for something that’s colourful, with a matching pocket square and bow tie. If the weather is still looking a little bit dreary, then you might prefer instead to hold back on the colour and go for something greyer. You can always use accent pieces to bring the contrast back.
Shoes
Brown shoes are a natural match for Spring they complement blue shirts and blazers. You might be able to get away with the right pair of loafers, too. Be as bold as you dare, and make sure that you’ve chosen an appropriate pair of socks, too. If it’s an outdoor wedding, then make sure that you aren’t taking anything that’s too delicate.
Accessories
Your spring suit combination will really come together if it’s combined with the right wristwatch. Leather straps and subtlety tend to go a long way, here. Fortunately, it’s difficult to go wrong, here – just go for something that reflects your personality.
