I have always been a huge advocate of starting your day off right with breakfast even if it’s on-the-go. Even if we’re running short on time, I always make sure my son has had something to eat before I run him in to town for school. A nutritious breakfast is the perfect way to fuel all of us throughout the day.
I am sure just like many of you, I have been on a health kick since the beginning of the year. I have been trying to think of creative ways to make breakfast that’s not only healthier but great-tasting as well.
I am a big lover of granola and breakfast bars so I was trying to think of some way to slightly combine the two. While I was at Walmart the other day I came across a great variety of Post Cereals and thought I’d attempt to create my own granola. So, I grabbed the Post Cereals Raisin Bran, Post Cereals Shredded Wheat Original cereal, Post Cereals Great Grains (in a few different varieties) and Post Cereals Grape Nuts Original. I figured I could surely make a nutritious granola out of these great options.
I am on a mission to make a better version of me this year. No more settling. No more procrastinating. I am ready to be a better me! The perfect way to start is with a breakfast and some Spoonfuls of Goodness.
The best way for me to find a healthy and tasty breakfast for my family is from the Post cereals I snagged at Walmart. I love that they contain fiber and keep us full until lunch. They have whole grains that are packed with nutrients, including protein, fiber, B vitamins and antioxidants. With all of the delicious better-for-you options, I can easily find a favorite for everyone in my family.

- ½ cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg white
- ¼ cup packed dark brown sugar
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 325° F.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
In a large bowl mix together the cinnamon, salt and brown sugar…
Add the Post Cereals Raisin Bran. Did you know that Post Cereals Raisin Bran contains 23 grams of whole grain and 8 grams of fiber. Plus every box is filled with hundreds of tasty Sun-Maid California raisins. I love raisins!
Add the Post Cereals Great Grains in the variety you have chosen. There are 36 grams of whole grain per serving, 12 vitamins and minerals, and 20% of your daily value for fiber.
You could also add the Post Cereals Shredded Wheat Original which just so happens to be packed with 49 grams of whole grain and 6 grams of fiber, Shredded Wheat Original is a classically wholesome breakfast. It’s so good in fact, that it’s recommended by 9 out of 10 doctors to reduce heart diseases which is definitely something I need. My ticker isn’t in full force.
In a separate bowl whisk together the coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla and egg white.
Combine the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing well. Make sure all of the grains are completely coated. Spread the granola evenly onto the baking sheet.
Bake for 20-30 minutes. Be sure to lightly stir about halfway through.
Remove from oven and allow granola to completely cool.
Store in an airtight container on your counter for up to two weeks. Enjoy alone or add milk!
