Give happiness this holiday season with the help of Coca-Cola! The holidays are such a wonderful time to inspire others to help families in need. Coca-Cola has teamed up with The Salvation Army to provide a meal to families in need. Every Walmart Deli prepared meal with Coca-Cola purchased in November and December will enable families in need to enjoy a warm meal together during the holidays!
I love to be able to give happiness to those less fortunate so while at Walmart the other day I purchased a complete Walmart Deli meal and a 2 Liter bottle of Diet Coke. It’s the perfect way to save time without cooking days before to prepare for the holidays. The rotisserie chicken you can purchase at the Walmart Deli is perfect. I love to grab these for a variety of reasons. You can easily save them for later and reheat too. I love getting these to use for homemade chicken and noodles too. I also purchased macaroni & cheese, cole slaw, macaroni salad and a salad while in the Walmart Deli.
How to Provide a Meal to Families in Need
Every year I enjoy being able to fix meals for families in need and give happiness to families for the holidays. These are my tips on creating a meal on a budget for those less fortunate.
Set Your Budget. First you’ll want to set your budget. How many families will you feed? Write everything down with prices so you won’t go over your budget.
Serve a Salad. I picked up a few salads from the Walmart Deli already prepared. This saves me a lot of time. I can present it in a bowl with dressing on the side. Figure on two or three cups of salad dressing per five guests.
Serve Sides. The Walmart Deli offers a variety of hot and cold sides such as macaroni & cheese, cole slaw and macaroni salad. I selected a few that I presented in pretty bowls.
Serve Dessert. Pies are always a favorite during the holidays. You can feed six to eight with a pie depending on how large you cut the slices. Serve a variety such as pumpkin, apple and rhubarb. I grabbed some pies while at Walmart in the freezer aisle.
Serve Bread. Rolls are an easy bread to serve. You can quickly heat these in the oven. I would plan on two dozen rolls for 20 to 25 guests. Not every guest will eat a roll.
Drinks. Make it easy and use 2 Liter bottles of your favorite Coca-Cola product with plastic cups. This makes for easy clean-up and each 2 Liter bottle will fill around eight cups.
Share a picture of your family with the hashtag #GiveHappiness on social media while enjoying Coca-Cola and a prepared meal from the Walmart Deli to spread awareness about the program and to inspire others to help families in need. How do you #GiveHappiness during the holidays?
