Redecorating can be a fun and exciting project, at least in theory. Choosing the colors for your walls sometimes involves a lot of swatches and trips to your local paint store. Luckily, these seven apps make the process easier.

Voice of Color

Best Apps Paint Color

Although this app was created specifically for designers, it’s easy to use, even for the interior decorating novice. Even if this is your first time painting a room in your home, this app is helpful in finding the perfect color for your walls. Available for iOS, the free app allows you to match colors from photos you’ve taken or found on the internet and then order swatches right through the app, which you can then take to the store for buying paint.

Dulux Visualizer
It’s hard enough to pick your paint colors, but it’s even more difficult to imagine what your walls will look like once the job is completed. Dulux helps you envision what your room will look like in real life by adding any color to an image of the room through augmented reality. The Dulux Visualizer Live function lets you hold your device up to your wall and see a live version of what the color will look like. The 7.9-inch Retina display of the Apple iPad mini 4 is perfect for giving you a large sample of the color. The app will also let you color pre-existing photos. Dulux Visualizer is free through the Apple and Google stores.

DIY Home Color
For $0.99, you can download DIY Home Color from the Apple store to get recommendations for almost any room in your house. Using one of their preset photos, you can add paint to the walls, and change the color of your decorations to see what different colors would be compatible in the room you are redecorating. You can save all the different versions to your device to compare them as well. If you struggle visualizing how a paint color may look with the decorations in your room, this app may be for you.

AnyPaintColor
Unlike other similar apps, AnyPaintColor has different brands to choose from so you can find the right color for your rooms. For $2.99, this iOS app provides access to over 130,000 paint colors, so you don’t have loose swatches from different brands all over your home. You can keep track of your favorite colors, and once you’re ready to buy, you can do so directly through the app. Although this app won’t help you visualize what the paint will look like on your walls, it does offer a huge variety to choose from, and the convenience of ordering that exact paint directly.

ColorClix
If you’ve ever seen the perfect color for your walls, this app can help you match it. Whether you find that color in nature or on a stranger’s clothing, ColorClix allows you to snap a photo of that color and match it. This free app, available for iPhone and iPad, also allows you to find colors that are compatible with your desired shade. With this app, you can find inspiration anywhere and completely redecorate your room based on that inspiration.

CliqCliq Colors
For $2.99, this iPhone app helps you to match that perfect color similarly to ColorClix, but it will go one step further and convert those colors to CMYK, HSB, and RGB. You can then match any color and use it for more than just paint. If you want to find or print art in matching shades, CliqCliq provides the formulas, so you know exactly what color you are using for your paint, for printing, or for any other type of design.

Color Change
For $0.99, this iOS app helps you define a color, but then also helps you understand how that color will look in different lights. After determining your color, you can change the picture, including the brightness and saturation, to view the color in all forms. Since paint colors look different depending on the type of lighting and the time of day, this app helps to make sure you are satisfied with the color under all lighting conditions.

Before you buy multiple cans of paint or put down that first drop cloth, download these apps to make sure you find that perfect color for your next project.
