I was very excited to learn FiftyFlowers.com would be sending us the wholesale flowers for this project. The blooms were cut and shipped directly to our doorstep from the farm where they grew.
When I found out I would be doing a project with fresh flowers I immediately asked my friend if she had any ideas. She is so creative and quickly came up with the unique idea of a fresh floral American flag. This is the perfect display for any fourth of July or patriotic celebration.

Fresh Floral American Flag
Supplies:
- Frame
- Chicken wire or gardening mesh
- Staple gun
- Scissors (for cutting stems)

- 50 – Bulk Stephanotis White Flower
- 8 Bunches (200 stems) – Red Carnation Flowers
- 8 Bunches (200 stems) – White Carnation Flowers
Instructions:
When you receive your flowers you will want to follow the guidelines from FiftyFlowers.com. Some flowers take a few days to open while others are ready immediately. I trimmed all of the stems on the flowers the day I received them and put them in buckets of water. It was quite the task! I had flowers all over my kitchen! Such a beautiful site!
Decide on a frame. We used a large photo frame we already had. It worked amazing for this project. The frame was around 2′ x 4′.
Staple chicken wire or gardening mesh to the back of your frame. This will hold your flowers in place. We even had a little helper.
Cut the excess wire or mesh off so it doesn’t show through on the sides when the frame is turned over.
Hang the frame so you can easily place the flowers.
Start by creating the stripes on the flag with the red and white carnations.
Use the Blue Cornflowers to fill the upper left corner.
Finally, use the Bulk Stephanotis White Flowers as the stars.
It was hard to fit 50 of these in one area so we placed as many as we could without making it look too busy.
