A few days ago I walked the red carpet into the world premiere of the newest movie of the Star Wars franchise, SOLO: A Star Wars Story. I know, so unbelievable! An opportunity that I will forever remember. The premiere was held on Hollywood Blvd, a place that has become so familiar to me but this night was beyond my expectations.
Just like Game of Thrones or Marvel, Star Wars has an incredible fan base. As we made our way down Hollywood Blvd to the red carpet you could see fans were dressed in their favorite Star Wars gear and as their favorite characters including Han Solo, Lando and Qi’ra, I’m sure there was even a few Chewbaccas in the mix! Through security we went under the tent on Hollywood Blvd to claim our badges and walk the red carpet.
As we made our way down the red carpet you can see the press lined up interviewing the cast and creators as they make their way through the Star Wars adorned street. I was able to see Ron Howard (director) and Emilia Clarke (Qi’ra), as well as many other members of the cast.
There’s always celebrities in attendance that aren’t in the film there to watch with everyone else. Some of them I spotted was Joe Manganiello and Jon Heder, both anxiously awaiting to watch the world premiere with all of us.
Once we made our way down the red carpet we entered the Millennium Falcon that was set up right on Hollywood Blvd. It was enormous, nearly covering the full width of the street.
Of course, we had to snap photos on the red carpet before heading to the theater. It is a must for every red carpet event!
Every red carpet I’ve been to previously I have watched premieres at the El Capitan Theatre but this year it was also shown at the Dolby Theatre. Yes, the Dolby Theatre is where the Oscars are held! So, from Hollywood Blvd we made our way through the Hollywood and Highland Center shopping mall and entertainment complex, up the Oscar stairs, to the Dolby Theatre.
After everyone had gotten to their assigned seats in the theatre, right before the movie was to begin, the cast made their way to their seats. The crowd started to cheer as George Lucas made his way in front of the audience. Following him was others like Emilia Clarke, Alden Ehrenreich, Joonas Suotamo, Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover and Paul Bettany, just to name a few. Then we watched the world premiere of SOLO: A Star Wars Story. You’ll have to wait until tomorrow for my review of the movie! I’m so excited to share a fresh perspective with you all since I hadn’t seen a Star Wars movie since I was a child!
After the movie all of us headed to the Ray Dolby Ballroom, beside the Dolby Theatre, for an impressive after-party. Upon entering I immediately noticed they had set up the costumes of each character on display. It was amazing! Food was served buffet style and bars stations were set up several places throughout the large ballroom.
No after-party is complete without out fun interactive things to do. We could get our picture taken with Chewbacca and other fun opps. The celebrities were set-up at their own tables enjoying time with family and friends. You can try to get your own selfies with the celebrities but sometimes this is near impossible due to their security and large crowd. We got our own photos with the cast and director during our interviews so I can wait to share those with you!
