DC Cobbs. My favorite restaurant during our four day road trip through McHenry County, Illinois was definitely DC Cobbs. I love that they feature 20 gourmet hand-pattied burgers topped with fresh ingredients and homemade sauces, plus signature salads, sandwiches, wraps, and more, D.C. Cobb’s is one of Mchenry county’s favorite dining destinations! You’ll find two locations: McHenry and Woodstock, Illinois.
You can create your own burger or select from one of their famous burgers with names like The Heart Attack, The Politician or The Groundhog. I went with The Dick Tracy: grilled onions, mushrooms, bacon & Swiss served between two grilled cheese sandwiches. It. Was. Delicious!
I can’t wait to go back and have another one! Of course, I selected fried pickles on the side along with my mom. We love our fried pickles!
My mom chose The Thunder: caramelized onion, white truffle pub cheese, served on a pretzel bun.
Each DC Cobbs location also offers a bar with a full selection of drinks to quench your thirst after a long day! They feature a full scratch kitchen, using the freshest ingredients. Join them for a drink, enjoy a homemade meal and get down with some great tunes!
Pub 47. Beer nuggets. Need I say more? Just look at them…
That’s 12 ounces of Pub 47’s homemade pizza dough formed into nuggets, then flash-fried and tossed in grated parmesan cheese, garlic and a hint of cajun spice served with their homemade pizza sauce on the side. ]Delicious! The beer nuggets could easily be a meal in themselves and will easily feed six people as an appetizer.
Pub 47 is a casual neighborhood bar and grill with two convenient locations – Route 64 in St. Charles, IL and Route 47 in Huntley, IL. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming enough to bring your family or you can sit at the bar to relax after work or a fun night out with friends. Enjoy a cold beer or a nice glass of wine at their fully stocked bar. They offer a wide variety of traditional fares including burgers, steaks, pasta, pizzas, and much more. Royal Oak Farm Country Restaurant. Not only does Royal Oak Farm have an apple maze, gift shop and adventures for the whole family but they also have a country restaurant on site. Whether sitting in their dining room or enjoying the weather in their outdoor seating area, you’ll find a great selection of comfort food for the season. Each day their chef creates tasty soups, sandwiches, entrees and salads that are sure to satisfy your apple picking appetite and have you returning for more. You can select from menu items like their famous chicken pot pie or barbecue pulled pork. And be sure you finish your meal with one of their homemade fresh desserts, including their famous apple pies, apple slices, apple cider donuts and other favorites.
Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria. You can’t be as close as we were to Chicago without having some deep dish pizza. Lou Malnati’s is known for their legendary Chicago deep dish pizza. Considered the oldest family name in Chicago pizza, Lou Malnati’s is as rich in history as its pizza is in flavor. Every pizza is handmade from scratch using the finest and freshest ingredients.
Not only did we enjoy the deep dish pizza but also a Malnati Salad, Lou’s Bruschetta, Penne ala Malnati, and dessert. The service was amazing and everything was so delicious. I can’t wait to visit Lou Malnati’s again when I’m in the area with my family!
