Minions Movie Night with Minion Crispy Rice Treats

Ever since, Despicable Me, hit the theaters we have been begging Illumination Entertainment for a Minion movie. The Minions movie is a huge hit at our house. We love those little yellow guys. We were so excited the Minions movie © 2015 Universal Studios. All rights reserved. will release on Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack on December 8th, 2015 that we had to preorder it. To celebrate the movie release we thought we’d make some fun Minion Crispy Rice Treats we’ll also enjoy as we watch the movie from home.

Minion Crispy Rice Treats

Ingredients:

• 2 Tbsp. of unsalted butter
• 1 (10 oz.) bag of mini marshmallows
• 6 cups of Rice Cereal
• Yellow Food Coloring
• Fruit leather (optional)
• Candy Eyes
• Black icing
• Blue icing

You will also need a 9×13 pan, egg shaped cookie cutter (whatever size you want your Minions), wax paper and cooking spray.

Making the Crispy Rice with Marshmallows:

1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add marshmallows and yellow food coloring. Stir until melted and remove from heat. These are will be the minion character bodies.
2. Add the cereal and stir.
3. Line your pan with wax paper. Spread the crispy cereal mixture onto the pan. Try using a spatula sprayed with cooking spray. The marshmallow mixture won’t stick and you can easily spread it out.
4. Let cool.

Create Your Minion Characters:

1. Lift the wax paper out of the pan and place your crispy cereal onto a flat surface.
2. Cut the egg shapes out with your cookie cutter.
3. Use the black icing to add a line across where the eyes will go, for the mouth and hair.
4. Add candy eyes. You can add 1 or 2 depending on your character.
5. Use blue icing for the overalls. You could also use blue fruit leathers but I couldn’t find any at the time. We had this blue icing on hand and I thought it worked just fine.
