Whether you have a career or are a stay at home mom, we can still get that mom guilt and putting our families first. I have had the opportunity to work from home since our son was born. It has been a huge blessing. I’ve had the ability to further my career while staying home with our son. It is absolutely the best of both worlds. However, it can still be hard shutting down my computer to make enough time for family.
I enjoying being able to read Lisen Stromberg’s new book, Work PAUSE Thrive. It’s the perfect read for women that are in the work face who want to start a family or a stay-at-home mom that feels guilt if she wants to start a career or return to the work force. As moms we can’t feel guilty! I know, easier said than done.
I have the perfect example for you all about having that mom guilt. I just returned home from a press junket in LA. Our son participates in a load of activities and I missed 5 basketball games, baseball practice and a band concert. I felt awful. I mean I even had tears streaming down my face the night before I left. The guilt is very real but I was doing this for my family to generate income for my business. Sometimes we have to choose to miss a few of activities even if it feels so wrong.
Moms can have it all whether it’s our families or careers. I think I’m living proof of that!
I love that Lisen shares her stories on how she put her career on hold to start a family. She definitely never imagined doing it but she wanted to focus on her family. If you can do this financially I say go for it! Lisen only paused her career and then pivoted to become first a social entrepreneur and then an award-winning journalist writing about women, work, and life in Silicon Valley. If she can do it, we can all do it!
In Lisen’s new book Work PAUSE Thrive, she shares cutting-edge data collected from nearly 1,500 women, and through 186 first-person interviews, this book reveals how trailblazing women have disrupted the traditional career paradigm. What worked for them can work for you.
