You Doll You! Crafts Flawless Eyelash Extensions – REVIEW

2015-06-29 10.16.10

Eyelash extensions only recently became a part of my beauty vocabulary. Don’t get me wrong, I have always noticed falsies dangling from displays in Sephora, but I perceived that option as looking too much like a costume, and trusting myself to accurately glue lashes to my eyelids is immensely intimidating.

A short time ago, a friend of mine recommended I look into getting eyelash extensions professionally done. After doing my research, not only did I realize this to be a highly coveted service of A-list celebrities, but every day women are quickly catching on to what may be one of the greatest beauty services to sweep the industry as of late.

You Doll You Final 2

Kiyomi Rosenzweig launched You Doll You! in 2006, making it one of only a few salons that offered eyelash extensions in Southern California. Since its inception, You Doll You! has expanded to a second location, and has become the go-to salon for pristine, natural looking eyelashes. Taught in Japan by its original pioneers, Kiyomi has perfected the craft and successfully maintains and continues to build a loyal customer base. Meticulously shaping each client’s lashes to fit their personal goals, Kiyomi is the premiere eyelash artisan in Southern California. A few of her celebrity clients include Victoria Beckham, Rachel McAdams, Blanda Eggenschwiler, Terri Seymour, and Cara Santana.

Upon arriving to the Robertson Blvd. salon, Kiyomi promptly greeted me and escorted me to my room where she provided several eyelash samplings. She was extremely pleasant and direct as she educated me on the difference between the Silk, Mink, Queen Sable, and 100% Real Mink eyelashes. I chose the lashes made of 100% Real Siberian Mink due to their completely natural aesthetic and soft feel, with a Luxe service of 150 pieces ($170). Kiyomi assured me they would feel light as a feather on my delicate lids. Click here to view eyelash extension materials and pricing.

The space was clean and clutterless. Each container on Kiyomi’s stand was properly labeled and clear – reminiscent of a doctor’s room, which I’m sure was derived from her 10 years of experience as a nurse in Tokyo.

You Doll You In-Process 2

Kiyomi requested that I lay flat while she began retrieving her tools. She did not waste a second. First, she placed under eye patches on my face to ensure accuracy and protect my skin. I am usually very pale and my skin is ultra sensitive, but the adhesive that Kiyomi used to attach the lashes did not irritate my skin in the slightest. The tools that she used were long, sharp and tweezer-like, but the procedure was completely painless. One by one, each mink lash was strategically placed next to my own.

During this approximately 60 minute process I became so relaxed that I actually drifted to sleep twice, and even began to dream… Thankfully, when I awoke my eyelashes were just as I had hoped they would be – beautifully placed and natural.

I did not opt to receive bottom eyelash extensions, although I will definitely consider doing so upon my next visit. Even without them, the top eyelash extensions made my eyes pop more than mascara ever could. My entire attitude lifted and I felt dolled-up without wearing any makeup.

The precision of Kiyomi’s tried and true technique, and the affordability of her services are enough to convince anyone to try it once – and you’ll be obsessed!

FAQ – How do I maintain my eyelash extensions?

  1. Don’t sleep face down or rub your eyes.
  2. Don’t use any oil-based makeup or oil-based makeup remover.
  3. Don’t expose the eyelash extensions to high heat or steam.

  1. Thanks for your review on ‘You Doll You’. It sounds like an amazing place. The Before and After photos of the placement of the individual eyelashes really tells the story of how wonderful the eyelashes look. The price is relatively low too.

  2. This is really amazing. Thank you so much for the review. THose eyes are to die for. They look beautiful and every girls dream to have lashes like this.

  3. They look nice. It sounds like a lot of maintenance though. Not being a person that wears makeup this is something to consider.

  4. These looks so great. I’ve been scared of them though, but everytime I see someone get them they look amazing.

  5. Wow all I can say is you go girl and you are so brave I don’t think I could make it thru the process, well maybe with a couple glasses of wine LOL TY great article 🙂

  6. The after is really impressive. I’ve been really scared to try eyeleash extensions personally, I have a thing about stuff near or in my eyes… Putting on eyeliner and mascara is a real challenge for me so this would be hitting my limit I think lol. Maybe one day I’ll get the courage to try. 🙂
