If you’re looking to buy your girlfriend or wife something really nice and thoughtful for Valentine’s Day, but your funds don’t quite match your ideas, don’t panic! All that it means is that you may have to work just a teeny bit harder, and get creative to show her you care.
Chances are, she’ll love the fact that you’ve even remembered, but if you do want to sweep her off her feet, we’ve come up with some ideas to do so on a tight budget.
A keepsake
Something sentimental that she can keep forever is sure to be a winner, and doesn’t have to cost the earth, either. You can pick up things like token love hearts with your initials on, quite cheaply and in most gifts stores/websites. Anything that is a matching set that you can both have one of is also a good idea, like silver key rings for example.
A personalised print
These also don’t have to be massive or expensive. In fact, you can pick up cute or funny ones at gettingpersonal.co.uk. If you want to go for a funny one, choose a daft picture of the two of you and a funny quote for underneath to make her laugh.
Candles and rose petals
Why not give her a full blown romantic experience rather than just a gift? Buy some fake rose petals really cheaply, a lot of tea lights (and the odd bigger, nicely scented one) and have a cosy night in together. She’s also bound to love a massage, so get some nice oil or lotion. You can easily do all of this for under £20, and she’ll no doubt appreciate it much more than a bunch of flowers.
A mug or glass
Whilst it may seem like an ordinary, mundane gift, you could present it to her and tell her you’re going to be her waiter for the day/evening, and every time she wants a cup of tea or a glass of wine, you’ll make it for her. You could even get her a bottle of her favourite alcohol in a special bottle or with a personalised label to make it even more special, or a selection box of different teas or coffees.
Name a rose gift box
Instead of the standard garage flowers, why not get her a gift box set to name her very own flower? And there is officially no other flower that comes as close in terms as romance as roses. It’s also something she’ll be able to keep forever, not just until it dies too!
Bath set
Again, you can turn an otherwise regular gift into more of an experience by running her a bath and filling the bathroom with candles. Put her towel on the radiator so she’s nice and warm when she gets out, and just basically be really romantic all evening! Go for a bath set that has a pink or red theme to keep things in with the Valentine’s Day theme, like this one from Lush.
