Home prices vary massively, even within the United Kingdom, but have you ever stopped to wonder exactly how much more (or less) home you could get for your money in other parts of the country?
This eye-opening infographic shows the average amount that various home improvements would add to your home’s value in different parts of the country. The range of prices in the infographic is astonishing! For example, a conservatory may add £43,000 to the value of a London property, but adds just over £4,000 to one in Scotland.
That’s not all:
- New carpets are worth £4,700 on average in London, but just £250 in the South West
- Giving your home a paint job may increase its value by £10,000 in London, but adds just over £400 in value to a home in the South West
- Londoners appreciate new bathrooms the most, too, being willing to pay £7,850 for one; while people in East Anglia will only pay £989 for a bathroom.
The above figures are all averages, and the exact value of a similar home improvement may differ for your home, but the chart still makes for interesting reading. If you’re planning a major home improvement project, do some research before you commit a lot of money to the project.
