Summer is upon us so it’s time to start thinking about celebrating Memorial Day and barbecue season! I love to create simple summer time saver recipes with my favorite Lay’s Classic potato chips, ROLD GOLD® pretzels, and a refreshing Pepsi. During my recent visit to the store I grabbed my favorites to create a sweet & salty recipe to celebrate summer.
Sweet & Salty Pops
Ingredients:
- Lay’s Classic potato chips
- ROLD GOLD® pretzels
- Chocolate Chips – use dark, light or white chocolate
- Large or Jumbo Marshmallows
- Pop Sticks
I also have a piece of foam board on hand to place the sticks in so the chocolate can easily dry.
Directions:
Crush Lay’s Classic potato chips and ROLD GOLD® pretzels. I put mine in the food processor.
I place the chips and pretzels aside in dishes to use shortly.
Melt chocolate. I place mine in the microwave for 30-40 seconds, stir and repeat until melted through.
Place a marshmallow on one of the sticks.
Roll the marshmallow in chocolate and cover in Lay’s Classic potato chips or ROLD GOLD® pretzels.
Allow to dry.
You can decorate your sticks any way you like. Add a ribbon or color your sticks. You could even add cute tags. Be sure you make them easy for guests to grab. You could place them in a cute mason jar like I have below or decorate a piece of foam and stick them in it for a unique display.
The great thing about this recipe is that it takes little time and you’ll be ready to enjoy your guests for a fun Memorial Day barbecue. The sweet and salty pops on a stick will be great washed down with a refreshing Pepsi. We love to enjoy ice cold Cherry Pepsi with our summer treats.
Since you’ll have plenty of Lay’s Classic potato chips and ROLD GOLD® pretzels after creating your recipe, use the remaining to set out for snacking. Add your favorite dips to a platter so guests can enjoy the delicious flavor of the chips and pretzels.
