4 Reasons the 2018 Toyota Highlander is Perfect for Family Travel

My 12 year old boy, Cole, and I recently visited Los Angeles. I’ve been so many times I can’t count but I was so excited because it was Cole’s first time. It was actually planned for the whole family but my hubby was sick and sadly didn’t get to join us. Cole loves traveling so it was exciting to take him to a new place especially since it’s where my sister lives. He adores her so much. We got to enjoy so many exciting things during our short stay in LA but one thing that was super exciting was getting to test the 2018 Toyota Highlander LE Plus.

Since I drive a pickup every day, it was fun to try something new and drive the Toyota SUV. Los Angeles is no joke when you come in hot off the farm. Seriously, it can become a stand still and that’s not even at rush hour. It’s important to have a great vehicle to pull you through all those long waits so I came up with some great reasons on why the Toyota Highlander is perfect for family travel.

Fuel Efficiency. Let’s be honest, fuel efficiency is a high priority these days especially if you do a lot of commuting or traveling. We drove all over the Los Angeles area from West Hollywood to Long Beach and even through the Hollywood Hills for 2 days and only used a half tank of gas.

Available on gas-powered Highlanders is the available Stop and Start Engine System (S&S). This shuts the engine off when Highlander is at rest — like when at a stoplight — to help save more fuel. When it’s time to go, releasing the brake restarts the engine so you can get on your way.

Towing Capacity. Some adventures are so big you have to tow them. No problem. Want to go camping or take your family adventure on the road? Thanks to its available 3.5-liter V6 direct-injection engine, a properly equipped Highlander can tow up to 5000 lbs.

Safety.  The road can be unpredictable. That’s why Highlander comes standard with Toyota Safety SenseTM P (TSS-P).22 which combines Pre-Collision System23 with Pedestrian Detection24 (PCS w/PD), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA),25 Automatic High Beams (AHB)26 and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control(DRCC)19 to assist you. These moments of safety are designed to support your awareness and decision-making on the road.

Comfort. Not only is the Toyota Highlander comfortable to drive but it’s comfortable for the whole family. Sometimes back seats can be super uncomfortable but not with the Highlander. My son enjoyed the rear seating and he was super happy considering how much drive time we had on our little vacation. There’s plenty of room for passengers and carrying your luggage in the rear.
