Into the Woods – A Modern Twist on Grimm Fairy Tales
I have a feeling Into the Woods is going to be another huge hit for Disney… a great way to end the year with a bang! Into the Woods is actually based on the musical play by Stephen Soundheim and James Lapine. It premiered on Broadway in 1987 and won Tony® Awards for best score, best book and best actress in a musical. Among other awards, the musical received five Drama Desk awards, including best musical. During a recent business trip to New York I took in my first Broadway show Pippin. It is an amazing opportunity to see a Broadway show!
Into the Woods has an amazing cast with Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Tracey Ullman, Christine Baranski and Johnny Depp… many of which I absolutely love!
Check out the new trailer below:
Rob Marshall, the acclaimed filmmaker behind the Academy Award®-winning musical “Chicago” and Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” directs the film, which is based on the Tony®-winning original musical by James Lapine, who also penned the screenplay, and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics.

I’m looking forward to seeing this also. Besides having such a stellar cast, Disney has been doing a magnificent job with their live action fairy tales and comic book projects.
I cannot wait to see this movie. I am definitely taking the whole family. Looks like a good one.
I LOVED this! So did my 11 y/o!
