We redid our main bathroom last year and I went with a more spa-like feeling for it. Mostly it’s a case of a calm color (blue – it was a pale blue before, but I went with a deeper blue this time), tiles to replace the old linoleum, new vanity/sink/mirrors, accessories, and I also use scent to keep the calm feeling.
