Cascade Platinum Review
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cascade. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
I have been a user of Cascade liquid dishwasher detergent for several years now. I love the lemon burst scent and it’s always cleaned my dishes very well. I was so excited to try the Cascade Platinum Pacs mostly because I thought it would be a much easier solution instead of the liquid detergent. Check out our Cascade Platinum review below.
I am not sure if it is because I have an older dishwasher or what but I could not get these little pacs to dissolve. I tried using them in three different dish loads. I read the directions very carefully and they say to place one pac in the main dispenser cup and close the dispenser door. The image below shows the pac after the dishwasher completed the wash. The door on the dispenser opens but the pac never fully dissolves and it just sticks inside. Has anyone else had this problem? I’m going to blame it on my dishwasher because I absolutely love the Cascade brand. The dishwasher liquid I normally use from Cascade works wonders on my dishes. I did end up rewashing my dishes with the liquid detergent because due to the pac not dissolving my dishes were still dirty with a film on them.
With my current Cascade dishwasher detergent my dishes always come out clean. I never see any streaks or film on them. The Cascade Platinum Pac’s formula is to provide the ultimate clean for dishes and help prevent hard water filming to get sparkling clean dishes. One of these days when I get a new dishwasher I will be saving these to use. I just know they will work perfectly.

We have an older dishwasher too & some of the little pacs won’t dissolve in our either. I got a sample of these so I will still try them but keep this in mind! I do love the pacs now though!
I have an older dishwasher as well and have issues with the door not opening during a cycle so I have to cover my tracks and add liquid to the open & closed compartments just in case. It’s a pain but I haven’t tried these yet – I’ve been afraid to because I’m not sure they’re made for older dishwashers, ha. We will see!

I was already faithfully using Cascade gel with Dawn orange scent which made my whole kitchen smell so good! But I was having to additionally buy dishwasher cleaner approx. once a month or so too. SO when these Platinum paks came out, I got some and mine dissolve perfectly in my dishwasher so no problem there. I do miss the orange scent and hope they will make some orange scented ones eventually. However SO FAR I haven’t been using them more than a month, but so far my dishwasher AND my dishes are clean so I haven’t had to buy additional dishwasher cleaner so, so far so good! : )
We had an older dishwasher and just like you said we had trouble with them dissolving- tried them about 5 times- and 3 out of the 5 they wouldnt be dissolved. We needed a new dish washer anyways though and our new one just arrived last week. I still had the bag of pods and tried them in the new machine- works great! Im very excited because I love pods over liquid detergent (so much easier and less messy!)
I have been using Cascade Platinum Pacs for a year or so. Just like you with our older dishwasher somethimes they wouldn’t dissolve all of the way. We got a new dishwasher and I noticed the detergent container was a lot bigger and the pacs dissolve without a problem so I’m thinking the bigger detergent container helps it dissolve better.
