Captain America The Winter Soldier Movie Review
4.4.14 has arrived…
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is now in theaters everywhere! When I was invited to LA last month, I had the opportunity to pre-screen the movie. First let me tell you… I had seen a few of the Marvel films including Iron Man, Spider-Man movies, The Wolverine, X-Men movies and a few others. They were all great movies but I was never a big superhero fan. I didn’t follow any of it. No reason why. I just didn’t. Until now. I am hooked and plan on seeing every Marvel film that has ever been made and coming out in the future. I have some catching up to do!
Disney-Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier has launched impressively with $10.2 million at Thursday night pre-shows in the U.S.
The Thursday numbers for the “Captain America” sequel give an early indication that the Chris Evans starrer has enough potential pull to match forecasts of a domestic weekend above $90 million — which would be the top April opening of all time, eclipsing the $86 million-plus bow for Universal’s “Fast Five” in 2011. variety.com
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is an amazing film. Amazing! Marvel does not disappoint and surprises fans like never before! Marvel takes us on a great adventure bending comic stories and taking risks venturing off into unknown territories.

Chris Evans as Captain America (also plays Steve Rogers) continues his journey in this movie living in the nation’s capital while he tries to adjust to modern times. He’s the super-powered American soldier looking to find his place in the modern world. If you aren’t familiar with the movies, he had been frozen in ice since WWII. As he struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent and unexpected enemy known as the Winter Soldier. Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier is an amazing addition. I loved his character.
Captain Amierca joins forces with the Black Widow and new ally, the Falcon. Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow gets some amazing screen time and it isn’t just kicking someone’s butt. She plays the perfect Black Widow. I love that she’s made into so much more than just a sexy superhero. One of my favorite characters and actors in the movie is Anthony Mackie as the Falcon and Sam Wilson. My interview post with him will be coming up soon and I’ll let you know why I think he’s so great!
Of course, you get to see Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. He’s doing his usual hiding secrets but is much more vulnerable in this movie so it’s great to see that side of him. An excellent addition to the movie is Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce. Redford is such an amazing actor. Go see the movie to find out more about these great characters and why it is so amazing!
One important thing to remember, do not leave your seats in the movie theater until the last credits have rolled out. There are some amazing end credit scenes that are a must see.
Be sure to check out my interview with producer and president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige as he talks Captain America The Winter Soldier with me!
Should my kids see it?
I always think this is a parental choice. Use your best judgement for your kids and what they can handle. The movie is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence, gunplay and action throughout. Honestly, my nine year old son will be watching this movie. He knows right from wrong and probably sees more guns where we live due to all the crazed gun lovers. If it had a bunch of sex, drugs and rock and roll cursing it in I would think differently but it just doesn’t. It has amazing action scenes that he will absolutely love.

I’ve only seen the Avengers, but I did enjoy Captain America! I’ll definitely have to watch this one because these superhero movies coming out lately have been really great on average so far! I also like that the Black Widow is in this! Gotta love her!
Yes, the Black Widow is great in this movie!
