Pixar Animation Studios Tour
If you can imagine the perfect place to work, you’ve just imagined what I witnessed on my Pixar Animation Studios tour. One word… amazing! Pixar Animation Studios isn’t just a building, it’s a campus. The 22-acre campus, located near San Francisco in Emeryville California, includes several large buildings and even an athletic facility for employees. I also spotted several of my favorite Pixar characters during our Pixar Animation Studios tour. Pixar is home to so many amazing films including Toy Story, Monsters University, Cars, Wall-E, Up, Finding Nemo and Ratatouille.
We began our tour at The Steve Jobs Building, designed by the former CEO Steve Jobs. First, here’s an interesting fact, the other remaining buildings and areas on campus are named after places in New York such as Brooklyn. I also noticed while touring The Steve Jobs Building that the offices are separated into Upper East Side and Upper West Side. In front of The Steve Jobs Building you’ll find the Pixar Lamp which also illuminates at night.
Upon entering The Steve Jobs Building you will immediately notice its modern design and enormous size at 218,000 square feet. The building is 2 stories with stairs and an arched bridge over the entrance to gain access to the 2nd story offices. The offices are designed around a common area for employees that includes seating areas and a cafe where breakfast and lunch are provided. To the back are theaters for watching amazing new Pixar creations such as Inside Out which opens in theaters everywhere June 19th!
During our Pixar Animation Studios tour we were able to view the first 56 minutes of Inside Out! They are such teases! We absolutely loved the movie and can’t wait to see the whole thing! Check out the Inside Out trailer below.
We also viewed short film, Lava. It will be showing in theaters this summer before Inside Out in theaters. I showed my son the trailer and he’s already singing the song. It is such a cute short film! Check out the Lava trailer below.
After exiting The Steve Jobs Building you will immediately notice the athletic facility complete with amphitheater, soccer field, swimming pool and a tennis court. Apparently it’s great for employees and gets their creative juices flowing. Pixar Animation Studios’ campus is very green and I love how they promote health and wellness. We even passed by a yoga class of employees. 
From there we entered another building, the Brooklyn. I immediately noticed the warm, inviting feel to the space with a seating area and gorgeous fire place. There was lots of fun Pixar characters throughout this building as well. I couldn’t help but get a pic with Sulley and Mike from Monsters University.

What an amazing experience. Looks like a superb company to be a part of.
I am such a big animation fan, a tour of this place is definitely on my to do list! My favorite Disney/Pixar movie is “Toy Story 2”, but my favorite character from their films is ‘Heimlich’ from “A Bug’s Life “. I was so sad to hear when his voice over actor, and Disney/Pixar animator, Joe Ranft, died in a car crash.
